We are keen to see you showcase a full picture of yourself and encourage you to demonstrate experience from education, extracurricular sporting or social groups, and work or volunteering.

At Fisher German, we hire graduates with either a cognate (RICS accredited degree), or a non-cognate degree. We believe that your attitude and motivation to become a successful surveyor are just as importantas qualifications. We value a diverse skillset in our organisation.

Cognate graduates usually sit their APC within 2 to 3 years of joining Fisher German. Non-cognate graduates will enrol onto a part time master's degree, undertaken concurrently with their APC. This means you will be studying for both the academic qualification, and professional chartership qualification over a 2 to 3-year period. The Master’s course tuition fees are sponsored by Fisher German enabling you to gain RICS chartership.

Alongside your day-to-day professional work, our Graduate Surveyors are supported by experienced and approachable colleagues, as well as the Early Careers team. Our dedicated early careers team host several ‘training days’ each year, giving you the opportunity to network with peers from different teams and offices whilst providing training and preparation for the APC.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is a mandatory requirement both prior to the APC and once you are qualified. It is also an integral part of our company culture to continuously learn and improve to be the experts in the fast-paced surveying industry. We offer a range of CPD opportunities, including on the job learning, digital E-learning modules and our Link & Learn days where colleagues gather as a firm to learn about a range of relevant topics and network.

In addition to the early career training days and informal training sessions, you will have support from three people specifically designated to helpprepare you for your APC assessment (a Supervisor, Counsellor and Doctor). They use their first-hand experience of the APC process and their professional experience to help you with your progression. By the end of the training period, graduates will have gained enough relevant experience and confidence to become well-rounded, competent surveyors.

And once you are Chartered, the support doesn't stop there! Following a successful outcome in the APC, our Grow Framework is designed to support and assist colleagues in their career progression in a sector full of opportunity. Those first few weeks of making big decisions can feel overwhelming, like every move will set your path in stone forever. The truth is, it’s not nearly as final as it seems. Having support in that phase is game-changing.

I kicked off my career as a rural graduate, and five years later I had moved into infrastructure services and that’s when my journey really started to take shape. There were lots of unexpected twists, fresh opportunities, and plenty of new directions along the way. Embrace the journey and all the experiences that come with it.
