1) When do applications open / close?
Our graduate and year placement opportunities for a start in 2026 will be open for applications from 8 September 2025 until 16 November 2025.
For other early career opportunities and immediate-start graduate roles we may advertise throughout the year, please visit our website for specific adverts details and closing dates.
Note: We reserve the right to close applications in the event we receive a high volume of applications. We recommend you submit your application sooner, rather than waiting until the closing date deadline.
2) Can I apply for more than one graduate role?
We recommend you research into the different types of opportunities and teams we offer, and apply for the one you feel is the best fit for you. If you are interested in more than one role, feel free to apply for multiple positions. If you do, please ensure you have a clear understanding of the different roles, the type of surveying work, and clients you may be working with.
Your preferences will be discussed during the MS Teams screening call or face to face interview if you are invited.
3) If I am unsuccessful, can I reapply?
If you have previously applied for a role and were unsuccessful, you are welcome to re-apply in the 2026 intake recruitment process. If you are unsuccessful in the 2026 recruitment cycle, we recommend waiting to re-apply for the 2027 intake. This will give you time to gain additional skills and work experience that can strengthen your application next time around.
4) What is your policy on visa sponsorship?
Our graduate programme is a permanent position and therefore Fisher German we only to gradate roles within the rules and obligations set out by UK Immigration.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship as our training takes more than 2 years to complete to become a chartered surveyor.
5) Where are your roles based?
Our adverts will list the locations where our opportunities are based. The nature of the work means that you will need to be able to travel to client sites and other Fisher German offices.
6) Can I work remotely?
At Fisher German, being people-facing is a key part of our culture and essential for your development as a graduate surveyor / planner. Building strong relationships with our clients is crucial. We expect graduates and placement students to be in the office full time. If hybrid working is appropriate, you can discuss it with your manager locally.
Please note we do not offer remote working on any of our early career roles.
7) Can I decide when I want to start if I am offered?
Our early career opportunities offers are flexible on when you can start. Typically, our graduates and year placements may begin any time from July to early or mid-September. If you are secure a graduate role, we will be in touch with you to discuss a suitable start date for everyone.
8) What training can I expect when I join?
We hold an annual induction day for all our early careers cohort around September/October. It is a fantastic opportunity to build early connections and network with your peers.
In addition, the Early Careers team hosts training events throughout the year, with 2 full-day training events; one in the spring and one in the summer.

9) How long is the graduate programme?
Everyone’s journey on the graduate programme is unique and so there is no set duration.
Depending on your degree specialism the graduate programme can last anything from 2 to 3 years. If you already hold an RICS / RTPI accredited degree, it may be shorter.
If you do not have an accredited degree, Fisher German may sponsor a part time, 2-year Master's accredited RICS degree course. Once you have completed your Master's, we expect you to submit your APC in your 3rd year.
10) Will I have a permanent job at the end of the graduate programme ?
Our graduate roles are permanent. Once you pass your APC and become chartered your job title will automatically be promoted from Graduate Surveyor to Surveyor. For our commercial rotational programme, you may be placed into a team that has a vacancy for a qualified surveyor.
Year placements, however, are fixed term and last up to 12 months.
11) What can I expect to be doing when I join?
Our graduate and placement roles are real jobs, so you will be given tasks from day one and working with clients. This experience and exposure will help you prepare your diary for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to become chartered. So, you won’t be just left with all the admin tasks to complete!
12) Do you offer unpaid work experience / work shadowing
We currently do not offer formalised unpaid work experience or work shadowing placements due to the large number of requests we receive. We understand that finding work experience can be challenging for those without industry contacts / connections.
Therefore, we have created formalised opportunities to learn more about surveying through the following:
- Virtual insight programme – a 3-day online course to aimed at those studying non-cognate degrees. These sessions usually run in the Spring and Autumn each year. Please check out our Virtual insights programme pages on our website to find out more.
- Summer internships – These opportunities open in Spring 2026 for our next recruitment for summer 2026 internships.
