At Fisher German, we are all about putting our people first and we are thrilled to announce an enhanced family leave policy and an extended Christmas break for all employees. We caught up with our Managing Partner, Andrew Bridge, Director of People, Maria Hawley and Partner, Rob Haigh, to learn more about these initiatives and our ongoing efforts to position Fisher German as a great place to work as we continue to expand our teams.
Maria said: “Our recent ‘Time Out’ survey revealed that annual leave and extra days off are the top two benefits our colleagues value most, with over 60% highlighting their importance. Providing additional time off during Christmas directly responds to this feedback.
“Giving colleagues extra time off offers them a more robust mental break. This way, they can return to work in the New Year feeling refreshed and without a backlog of internal emails.”
Andrew added: "We recognise that Christmas is an important time of year for many people, and our data tells us that more than 70% of colleagues already take time off over the festive period. We also know from feedback how well it was received when we gave our teams additional time off as an extra reward. Since then, colleagues have continued to express their desire for more time off over the Christmas period.
“Based on the survey feedback, we decided to extend the extra time off that colleagues have over Christmas as part of our standard benefits. I hope this will give everyone in the firm the chance to take a dedicated break at least once annually.
“We believe this extended Christmas break will not only enhance employee satisfaction but also strengthen Fisher German’s reputation as a supportive and employee-centric workplace.”
Partners Rob Haigh, David Laws, Dan Ballard and Neil Hogbin have also been looking at how we can attract and retain women in leadership roles in the firm. The amount of enhanced pay that we offer to colleagues taking maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, collectively known as ‘family leave’, will increase from 1 April 2025.
Rob said: “I’m delighted we can now offer enhanced family leave which enables us to support our employees as they return to work during this important time by giving them more flexibility.
“As we continue to grow and recruit new talent, we are committed to offering benefits that truly matter to our colleagues.”
