FG BIG 25 7 done

Our London office proudly launched the adventure last week, kicking off an epic 148-mile journey to raise funds for a local charity supporting disadvantaged young people - just a stone’s throw from our City HQ.

The Big 25 Challenge is a 25-week relay connecting all 25 of our UK offices, with no motorised transport allowed to raise £25,000 for 25 incredible charities. The firm has pledged to match every donation up to £25,000 - doubling the impact to a potential minimum of £50,000!

Our London team set the pace with a scenic walk through the heart of the capital, followed by a 30-mile cycle to Kings Langley. Their journey continues along the Grand Union Canal, with a mix of walking and cycling, as they make their way to our Birmingham office - arriving on Thursday 15 May.

The London office has chosen XLP, a charity that creates positive futures for young people in inner-city London, as its beneficiary. XLP, supports young people facing challenges such as family breakdown, unemployment, educational failure, and living in areas with high levels of anti-social behaviour and gang violence.

Inspired by our travelling challenge, they will use the funds raised to support its double decker buses, which serve as mobile youth centres providing games, food and safe places on estates where there is little to no youth work and high incidences of anti-social behaviour.

Future Big 25 legs will see colleagues travel by horseback, roller skates, tandem bikes and even skis as part of the mammoth 2,400-mile journey between the offices.

Partner Robert Haigh, who works in our valuations team in London, said: “We’re extremely pleased to kick off Fisher German’s Big 25 challenge and make our way to the Birmingham office for the first leg of the relay.

“We became Fisher German in September 2000 following the merger of property firms Fisher Hoggarth and John German, but our roots, however, stretch back to pre-1830.

“The firm has grown considerably, and the relay is a fantastic way to unite colleagues from right across the business. There’s certainly a competitive edge too, with people taking on all kinds of unique modes of travel across huge distances as part of the challenge.

“Starting and finishing at our London office also shows how Fisher German has evolved as a business and is now thriving in urban markets while not forgetting its rural roots.

“We’re also very pleased to be supporting XLP. The charity is based very close to our office and does incredible work to support around 4,000 young people every single year.

“Not only will they receive an equal share of all of the money raised, but we will also be holding skills workshops with some of the young people they support as part of our ongoing relationship.”

Tim Sledge, Director of Fundraising at XLP, said: “XLP is thrilled to be part of Fisher German’s Big 25 challenge.

“Their trek through the UK mirrors the many challenges disadvantaged young Londoners face, and we are so grateful for Fisher German literally going the extra mile to change young lives for the better.”
