We have recently welcomed a geologist to our minerals team in Worcester as we look to expand our presence in the Midlands. Ross Smith has joined Fisher German’s minerals team at its Worcester office.

Ross, who came to us after eight years at multinational engineering consultants WSP, is a Chartered Scientist with a background in geology. He had undertaken land condition assessments and other geological surveys for major construction projects all over the Midlands, including HS2
.
As a business, we are looking to continue to grow our work in providing geological services to quarry operators both large and small, as well as helping landowners survey the minerals under their land. Ross also looks to broaden the mineral team’s services with his expertise in land contamination and materials management.

Senior Associate, Ross, said: “I’m really pleased to have started work for Fisher German as it continues to grow its mineral department. I’m already working with a wide range of clients to provide geological and geo-environmental assessments for them, whether it’s prospecting new or existing quarry sites for minerals or assessing land quality and ground constraints for development sites.

“With many sites being identified in local plans throughout the UK, this side of the business is growing and I’m regularly in contact with our development and planning teams to help their clients promote their land and support the planning process.”

Ross decided to make the move to Fisher German after being impressed with the firm after working with them in his previous roles. “I knew they had a great reputation in the industry, so it’s brilliant to be on the other side and to have hit the ground running,” he added.

“A big thing that attracted me to the firm was the company culture. There is a big commitment from Fisher German around personal progression, and they take the time to get to know you and encourage bonding with plenty of socials. I’m looking forward to seeing where my career takes me at Fisher German and helping the company to deliver excellent results for its clients.”

William Gagie, Head of Minerals at Fisher German, added: “Ross brings superb expertise into Fisher German from his eleven years working in geology, ground investigations and materials management.   He is already settling into the role really well. We’re confident he will play a key role in helping to grow our reputation as expert mineral consultants, and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
