Background and industry experience

Tom is a Chartered Building Surveyor with experience on a wide variety of instructions and on a wide range of building types and ages.
He provides professional services in the design and specification of new build, refurbishment and conversion schemes for domestic and commercial buildings; and undertakes all types of building surveys, including those for acquisition, technical due diligence, statutory compliance, forward-planned maintenance and dilapidation purposes. Tom leads the team in the provision of Independent Monitoring Surveyor Services for lenders.

Tom was a key member of the team delivering thousands of surveys of schools for the Education Funding Agency, which led to the development of relationships with local Academies and instructions to prepare Condition Improvement Fun applications.

Tom specialises in the sensitive repair and alterations to Historic Buildings, and the preparation of Heritage Impact Assessments (HIAs) to support Planning and Listed Building Consent applications and inform project design. Recent instructions have included work to Grade I, II* and II Listed Buildings, Scheduled Ancient Monuments and Registered Parks and Gardens.

I was given a fantastic opportunity to develop a career by a respected local firm.

What has been your favourite project and why?
There have been many, but the recent project to form a trappist brewery at Mount St Bernard Abbey has been special. Re-roofing of Melbourne Hall was also memorable.

Most admired, non-property brand?
Liverpool Football Club and BBC 6 Music.

Top pastime?
Going on adventures with my children, seeing friends and family, listening to new music, mountain biking, trekking, football, learning to cook!

Best holiday destination?
Kos

One item to take to a desert island?
Helicopter and manual/well stocked cocktail bar/DAB Radio!
