Chris Hicks charity challenge 1

Chris Hicks, head of our telecoms team, swapped the office for the North Norfolk coast on Friday 10 July, to take on the Public Sector Challenge Norfolk 2026 alongside friend and client, Stuart Yeo from New Forest District Council.

The challenge brought together public sector workers and supporters for an unforgettable fundraising walk from Holkham Hall to Cromer in aid of Norwich City Community Sports Foundation.

Chris and Stuart chose the full marathon-distance route, covering 26.87 miles in 8 hours and 48 minutes despite the intense heat. Their route followed the stunning North Norfolk coastline, passing through Wells-next-the-Sea, Morston, Blakeney and Cley before finishing in the seaside town of Cromer.

Chris Hicks said: “This was so much more than just a walk. It was a real test of resilience, teamwork and determination, especially in that heat. Taking on the full route along the North Norfolk Coastal Path with Stuart was tough, but knowing we were raising money for such an important cause kept us going every step of the way.”

The Public Sector Challenge Norfolk offered participants three distance options, 6.5 miles, 12 miles or the full 26.2-mile marathon trek, encouraging teams to work together, push their limits and raise vital funds while experiencing one of the UK’s most beautiful coastal paths.

The money raised will support Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, Norwich City FC’s official charity, which uses the power of sport to support and inspire communities across Norfolk. Its charitable objectives include driving inclusion for people with disabilities, boosting mental health and wellbeing, and supporting disadvantaged people to raise their aspirations.

Funds from the event will help support the Foundation’s inclusive disability and SEND programme, ‘Realising Potential’, which provides opportunities for children and adults to build confidence, stay active, develop skills and feel part of a welcoming community.

Chris and Stuart’s effort also stood out on the fundraising leaderboard. Together, they raised the highest sponsorship total for the challenge, with a fantastic £1,315 donated plus a further £248.75 in Gift Aid.
