Already operating on a national basis, our development team adds value through the identification, promotion, sale and purchase of property and land for development. Ben Marshalsay, who works alongside Luke Brafield, Rob Champion, and Amy Bowden, has recently been joined by Sophie Greco and Theo Shepherd-Smith who will focus on the South Midlands region.

The team works with stakeholders at all stages of the development cycle, whether that be in the early embryonic stages, formulating planning and promotion strategies and advising clients on development paths, or devising disposal and acquisition strategies.

They provide a full circle service, from identifying strategic development opportunities, promotion and planning applications, disposing of the consented land, and adding value by providing new home sales strategies and disposing of S106 affordable packages.

Head of Development, Ben Marshalsay said: “Having Sophie and Theo based at our Banbury office now enables us to focus on areas including Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, and Warwickshire.”

“In the past 12 months, we have been involved in the delivery of residential, mixed-use and employment development sites across the UK with a combined value of over £150 million. Our team is actively promoting over 1000 acres of employment land and over 1,500,000 sq ft of retail space. As demand continues to grow, we will continue to focus on specific geographical areas offering expert advice on the promotion of development land.”

Sophie, a Senior Associate, joined the development team in 2022. She is involved in providing advice on a range of development matters, with a particular focus on residential development. Sophie acts on a wide range of development projects on behalf of private and institutional landowning clients. Sophie also has experience working on behalf of large infrastructure providers and a range of housebuilders and promoters.

Sophie said: “I am excited to be expanding and growing our services further in this geographical area, with my strong knowledge of the local markets and I can advise on the full development cycle from formulating land assemblies to negotiating deals and legal agreements. I seek to gain the best commercial advantage for my clients and urge anyone with a strategic land opportunity to get in touch.”

Sophie will be supported by Surveyor, Theo Shepherd-Smith who joined us in 2018 after graduating from the Royal Agricultural University. Theo said, “It’s great to see the development team expand further and I am looking forward to being able to offer professional advice to landowners and developers in this area.”
