We have recently launched the third series of ‘Fisher German Talks’. Following the success of the first two series, this series will consist of seven episodes and will cover an array of topics, including minerals, investment, auctions, house renovations, and diversification. With more than 42,000 listens across series one and two, we are hoping that this series will prove to be just as popular.

As with the other series, expert colleagues from across the business will be invited to discuss some of the most prominent topics within the property sector. They provide a great insight into their area of expertise, with the help of guests from within the industry.

In the first episode of the new series, we look at the world of online auctions, an area that continues to evolve rapidly, in line with ever-advancing technology. Associate Partner, Tom Dennes, who works in our agency division, is joined by Robin Rathore, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bamboo Auctions, one of the leading online auction marketplaces, to discuss the opportunities and challenges that online auctions bring.

Fresh growth cycles, new software, innovative technology and, most recently, the post-pandemic shift to working from home and rural residence living, have made online property auctions increasingly popular. Online auctions are a relatively new concept, but they offer a transparent, safe, and fast way of selling a property.

Associate Partner and Head of Auctions, Tom Dennes Said: “Fisher German have increased its online auction activity by 30% year on year selling nearly 80% of all properties listed, achieving on average 38% above the guide price. What at first might look like a daunting prospect has proved to be a very slick, transparent, and refined sales process for both vendors and buyers where the sale is a true test of the open market. Online auctions are a great way to achieve the best price for the property the seller is looking for and provide a smooth, transparent transaction for the buyer.”

Robin explains how he identified a market need for quick, reliable property sales and developed his platform to solve the problem. They discuss the benefits of online auctions and compare them to traditional auctions and whether online auctions are only suitable for vacant or abandoned properties, or whether they can have their place when selling other types of property. They also ponder what they think the future of auctions looks like.

In Episode Two, we look at Minerals with Tom Giddings, Ben Minns, and Kirsten Cunningham from Estates Aggregate Industries. Later in the series, we will be talking about investment banking, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) with Oliver Deme, a Senior Surveyor in our investment team and Greg Mansen of Oaknorth Bank.

Further episodes will also discuss soil carbon and our new partnership with TrinityAG, which offers a cutting-edge new-generation digital platform providing full sustainability decision support to farmers. We will also be looking at interiors and house renovation, small and medium warehouses, and the benefits of rural diversification.
