Eleven players from our Ashby and Worcester offices participated in a record-breaking 75-hour netball marathon in Ashby. As one of the corporate sponsors, we helped to raise more than £54,000 for children’s charity, Kids’ Village, based just outside Lichfield, the UK’s first purpose-built holiday village for children with critical illnesses and their families
The event, organised by Ashby Netball Club and held at Ivanhoe School, saw 61 teams, playing netball continuously in shifts for 75 hours. By the end of the tournament, an impressive £54,190 had been raised, with donations still coming in. The event saw two Guinness World Records being broken: the most goals scored in 60 minutes, totalling 1,564, and the most goals scored in a minute by an individual which totalled 49.
Additionally, a new Guinness World Record was set for the most goals scored by a team in 60 seconds, with 97 goals.
Kirsti Williams, senior architectural designer based in our Ashby office, is a keen netball player and was the organiser of the firm’s team.
She said: “We are extremely pleased to have supported the tournament. We had a mix of those who play regularly and non-netball players, and everyone absolutely loved taking part.
“It was very competitive and extremely tiring by the end of the four days, but it was incredibly fun. It is fantastic to help raise so much for such a wonderful charity, and it’s great to know that the money will be used to directly support families going through difficult a very difficult time.
“It was also an excellent opportunity to get together as a team and meet new people from across the area. “Everyone from the firm who took part is already keen to get back on the court for an in-house Fisher German tournament!”
A round of applause to all those who took part: Harry Marshall , Imogen Bell and Jo Inwood from our shared services team, Amber Rose-Heys from our development agency team, Debbie Kenney from our rural property management team, Alison Jowett and Huw Lewis from our valuations team, James Shannahan from our GIS team, Will Lucas and Kirsti Williams from our building consultancy team and Katie Lea from our rural & residential agency team.
