On Friday 11 November, hundreds of twinkling lights will be lit in memory and celebration of loved ones in the annual St Richard's Hospice Lights of Love campaign in Worcester. We caught up with Mike Price, Head of Commercial Agency, to find out why we have supported this festive charity event for the last four years.

St. Richard's Hospice is an independent charity which receives funding from the National Health Service for only around a quarter of its income, the rest is raised through public donations, fundraising events like this one, and personal challenges to enable them to continue to provide their wide range of much-needed services.

Their Lights of Love festival is well known in Worcester, it's been running for 20 years. We support this annual event to help raise funds to enable the hospice to continue to care for adults with serious progressive illnesses by improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during their treatment and to their last days. Anyone is welcome to dedicate a light in memory or celebration of a loved one, not only those who have a connection with St. Richard's.

We are thrilled to be able to support them. I know people whose loved ones have received first-class care and if by us sponsoring this event, we can encourage more people to support the wonderful work they do, then it is very much worth it. Lights of Love brings comfort and support to many and is close to our hearts - it's such a special and moving occasion.

A team from our Worcester office plans to visit the hospice on 4 November and hopes to find out more about their work and look at other opportunities in which we may be able to support them further. Just recently one of our colleagues ran the London Marathon for the charity, raising more than £4,000 in memory of his Grannie, who was supported by the hospice.

Supporters who dedicate and donate online to Lights of Love will have their message displayed on the St. Richard's Hospice online Christmas tree as well as on banners around the tree at Worcester Cathedral.

The hospice holds two Lights of Love cathedral services, the first on Friday 11 November at 2.30 pm and the second at 7 pm, both at Worcester Cathedral. The evening service will be followed by a procession to St Andrew's Spire, where a Christmas tree will be illuminated, full of dedicated Lights of Love. The Lights of Love events are free to attend, and anyone can register by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phoning 01905 958262.

Anyone wishing to have their loved ones' names displayed around the trees needs to register names by 4 November in time for it to be illuminated on 11 November. For names to appear in the Worcester News on Christmas Eve, and at The Spire in time for Christmas, Lights of Love need to be dedicated by 5 pm on 12 December.
