Fisher German football jun 2018 new

An Ashby de la Zouch property consultancy helped to fundraise £2,500 by competing in a charity football tournament at Burton Albion FC.

Fisher German fielded a team in the inaugural ‘Das Futbol Tournoi’, which was organised jointly by Else Solicitors and Burton Albion Community Trust, with all proceeds raised going to Burton YMCA. The tournament was also supported by the O’Connor Gateway Charitable Trust.

A total of 24 teams from businesses in the local area took part in the six-a-side tournament, including Barclays Bank, Wesleyan, Springs Cleaning and Smith Cooper.

Fisher German sponsored Group A of the competition and were handed a tough draw in the group stage.

The team came into the final group game following four successive losses, but the day’s highlight was still to come, with a convincing 3-1 win against Wilo UK as Fisher German bowed out of the tournament.

The event ran throughout the afternoon on the new 3G astro pitch at Burton Albion FC and included a range of football related activities for players and spectators to enjoy.

Organisers had expected to raise £1,000 from the tournament, with the eventual total more than double that.

Team Fisher German featured a ten-man squad from the Ashby office and manager Scott O'Dell said it was a great opportunity to support a good cause.

The day was a fantastic opportunity to support a local charity in Burton and to catch-up with businesses in the local area,” said Scott.

It was initially a slow start on the pitch, which was to be expected as the team had never played together before and I have a questionable level of football management experience. But it all came together in the end with our heroic win over Wilo UK in the final match. We will get more preparation in ahead of our next tournament and hopefully we can build from that win. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all and will hopefully be the start of a regular footballing venture at the Fisher German Ashby office.”
