A disused quarry managed by Fisher German is set to take centre stage in a Blockbuster movie.
While the details of the film are strictly confidential, the quarry is being used as part of a high octane stunt to be featured in the movie. The quarry is one of a portfolio of sites which are being considered for alternative use, following closure for extraction.
After marketing the site speculatively for alternative future uses and letting opportunities, Senior Surveyor Tamsin Warr was contacted by the filming company who were looking for a site to stage the stunt. Tamsin worked closely with the film production company and the client, as well as liaising with other affected parties to help deliver the project, through agreeing a deal and negotiating Heads of Terms for the new lease.
The highly complex and unique agreement resulted in the agreement of a nine-month lease with an attractive rental income. Tamsin said: “The site has been non-operational for at least six years and we are always considering alternative uses for vacant sites. The film company were put in touch with Fisher German through our client, and expressed their interest following an arranged site visit.
“It’s a very unusual letting and is extremely positive for both the client and the local community as the production company are using resources locally to help facilitate the project. We are extremely pleased to agree such a high-value deal for our client which also benefits the local economy and supports community relationships.”
This is not the first time Fisher German has arranged alternative leases for filming on clients’ land. In 2019, TV series Outlander was filmed on an industrial site in Glasgow on a two-year lease agreement and sites including Tatton Estate and Tissington Hall have also been used for period dramas.
