Barnsley Hall sky and sign edit2 1 1
Our new homes team have partnered with an award-winning property influencer who left a corporate career to pursue a love of property development and has completed the renovation of one of the most prominent Edwardian buildings in Bromsgrove.

Lucy Nash, alongside her husband Dan Nash and builder business partner Stuart Butler, has restored Barnsley Hall into five luxury apartments. The couple took their first steps into property renovation in 2017 after purchasing their forever home – a Victorian terrace that had not been lived in for more than 40 years.

The well-known Edwardian building, originally constructed in 1904, was formerly a psychiatric hospital before being converted into NHS offices. The 18-month project saw the team completely transform the building into five luxury apartments offering spacious contemporary living while still retaining and enhancing the character features of the building.  With four apartments already reserved, the final two-bedroom apartment is now on the market with a guide price of £425,000.

But the work did not stop there for the team as they are now transforming neighbouring Barnsley Court, which had also been used as NHS office. Barnsley Court is due to be completed by spring 2024.

Lucy launched the Instagram account Victoria_road_restoration and shared every part of the project to give followers an insight into how they brought the property based in Harborne in Birmingham back to life. The award-winning social media account has amassed more than 63,000 followers, as the trio shared their progress as well as everything from renovation tips and interior design inspiration to ideas on how to earn income from a home and move into property development.

Not satisfied with stopping there, the couple teamed up with Stuart to leap into property development and launched BN Developments which has refurbished Barnsley Hall. With Stuart living in Bromsgrove and Dan being a former Bromsgrove School pupil, the team had a strong knowledge of the town’s property market and purchased Barnsley Hall.

In podcast episode 3 of our third series of ‘Fisher German Talks’, New Homes Manager, Ellie Lockwood meets Lucy to chat about the project. Click here to listen.

Lucy said: “After restoring our property, we knew we weren’t ready to walk away from property renovation, we’d built up a great working relationship with Stuart so Dan and Stu decided to take the plunge and set up our own development company. We learnt a lot from renovating our property, which gave us good foundations for the business.

“Barnsley Hall is such a stunning building and we knew we wanted to do it justice and restore it to its former glory. Stuart’s skill level and attention to detail are second to none, and where we couldn’t salvage original features, we worked to be as sympathetic as possible to them. The Instagram account has allowed us to bring people along for the ride as we move into property renovation, and everyone has enjoyed following our journey. It’s also been a fantastic tool for gauging a general public opinion on fixtures and fittings when we were picking these out.

“We have received some fantastic feedback from the local community who have been pleased that we have given the building a new lease on life. Some have even shared their memories of working in the building when it was offices, which has been lovely. We’re now excited to complete phase two of the project renovating Barnsley Court, and we have an exclusive early bird open day scheduled for February 3.”
