Time to Talk Day on Thursday 2 February, 2023 draws attention to mental health and the importance of reaching out to others. The day aims to help people open up and be honest about mental health, without the fear and stigma often attached to the topic. It’s all about opening the conversation and encouraging people to talk about their mental health and well-being and to be there for those around them.

Days such as Time to Talk day aim to create supportive communities by having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health to enable us to support ourselves and others as well. In addition to this, recent research shows how important open conversations in communities are to support everyone’s mental well-being. Our teams in Ashby, Stafford and Worcester wanted to support the day by taking the opportunity to get together over a coffee and share some cake.

Time to Talk Day is organised by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness in England and has been since it first took place in 2014. The campaign is run across the UK in partnership with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and See Me in Scotland and Time to Change Wales.

Maria Hawley, our Director of People said: “Our people are the most important thing to us here at Fisher German, we trust them to deliver expert advice to both our clients and our colleagues and they trust us to create a great atmosphere to work in.

“Talking about mental health reduces stigma and can remove harmful taboos that surround the subject. We want our workplace to be a supportive community where people can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when they need it.

“We have a network of brilliant, friendly mental health first aiders (MHFAs) based across our offices who are on hand to talk. They are trained to listen and signpost you to more support if you need it. We also offer all employees an employee assistance programme (EAP), which is free to access and is available 24 hours a day for anything that may be concerning anyone.”
