Background and industry experience

Rupert is a Partner based at our Knutsford office and is Head of Commercial North West Region, leading the Commercial Sector services delivery across Fisher German's Chester, Knutsford and Stafford offices. Rupert acts for both landlords and tenants across a range of property types and services, including strategic portfolio advice, lease consultancy, valuation, agency, development, investment, business rates and dispute resolution.

Rupert qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1996 with Gerald Eve LLP in London where he spent the first 9 years of his career before moving to Cheshire in 2002. He has extensive commercial property experience in the North West region having worked with the Co-operative Group, Lambert Smith Hampton and then with Gerald Eve LLP for a further 9 years where he was a Partner and Head of the Manchester office. Subsequently, Rupert was the Estate Manager at Eaton Estate, Chester which is part of the Grosvenor Estate and is the principal home of the Duke of Westminster and the Grosvenor family.

Rupert lives in Cheshire with his wife and two daughters and enjoys skiing, hill walking, travelling and all aspects of rural pursuits.

What has been your favourite project and why?
Initiating, planning and delivering a mixed commercial and residential development scheme that included a new village shop and school that will ensure the sustainability of the village for the future.

Most admired, non-property brand?
Land Rover - I recently acquired a 1959 Series 2 Land Rover that for me epitomises a timeless, classic example of British engineering.

Top pastime?
Fishing - standing in the middle of a beautiful river somewhere in a remote part of Scotland pretending that you might actually have a chance of catching a salmon.

Best holiday destination?
Ecuador - it is a country that has everything from jungle, beaches and the Galápagos Islands to the high Andes and active snow-capped volcanoes.

One item to take to a desert island?
Fishing rod - hopefully to catch something to supplement the diet of coconuts and grubs.
