Colleagues from across Fisher German came together to complete our epic Big 25 Challenge to transport a baton to each of our 25 offices without any form of motorised transport over 25 weeks, smashing our fundraising target to boost the funds of 25 charities across the UK. The ambitious 2,400-mile relay to celebrate our 25th anniversary as Fisher German, aimed to raise at least £25,000 to be split equally between 25 charities.
Inventive colleagues travelled between the firm’s offices using a variety of methods including horse riding, roller skating, paddleboarding, sailing and canoeing between its offices. The overwhelming generosity of staff, relatives, friends, clients and well-wishers has meant that when staff from Ashford completed the final leg to the firm’s London office, the fundraising tally stood at nearly £30,300.
We also pledged to match-fund any donations up to £25,000 from supporters, meaning more than £55,000 will be split between the chosen charities.
Each office nominated their own beneficiary, which ranged from Simon Community Scotland in Glasgow and Tŷ Hafan in Cwmbran to Devon Air Ambulance in Exeter and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in High Wycombe.
Debra UK, XLP, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Thames Valley Air Ambulance were among the charities who joined a celebration party at the firm’s London office in Old Jewry in the City following the completion of the final leg.
Partner, Stuart Flint, said: “When colleagues set off on May 9 from our London office along the Grand Union Canal, we knew this was going to be a tough challenge, but everyone has responded magnificently.
“Whether we ran, walked, cycled, canoed, paddle boarded or sailed, it was a great chance to get to know colleagues away from the office and to encourage each other every step of the way.
“We also mustn’t forget the vital help of the support crew on each leg who provided much-needed assistance when required since colleagues weathered the full gauntlet of rain, sun and wind.
“But nobody gave up because we knew we were raising funds for charities who carry out such fantastic work in the communities where our 25 offices are based, and many came along to wave us off at each leg.
“It was brilliant to invite a few of these charities to our celebration event in London where it all began in May to hear about their work which made all our endeavours worthwhile.
