This week sees our Liverpool team embark on their leg of our Big 25 Challenge to support an initiative that provides essential baby items to mothers and families facing financial hardship.
Our Liverpool team, based in Tithebarn Street, were passed the relay baton by colleagues from Stafford before they began their cycle ride of nearly 175 miles over four days to reach the Cwmbran office via the Hereford office.
They have chosen Sefton Baby Baskets as its beneficiary. The charity provides essential items for babies and mums referred by supporting agencies including clothes, bedding, towels, toiletries, new pyjamas and slippers for mum, prams and sterilisers across Liverpool and beyond. Sefton Baby Baskets is funded through volunteer-led fundraising activities, donations and funding applications.
Phil Winckles, Partner and Head of Valuation and Professional Practice, said “The challenge was going extremely well with the fundraising target having already passed the 92 per cent of the fundraising total.
“Sefton Baby Baskets is a local charity that has supported countless families in need of support and last year the volunteers helped around 460 new mums which is incredible. The demand for their services is growing and we’re really pleased to be helping them with our fundraising challenge.
“Our colleagues in Liverpool are united in taking part in our leg which will involve cycling to Oswestry, Bishops Castle and Herford before we reach our Cwmbran office. The money we raise will specifically be used to buy toiletries, new mattresses, pyjamas, slippers and sensory toys so it will make a real difference to the lives of many families in Liverpool.
“As someone with a young family I understand there is a pressure to provide for your children which can be difficult. The cost of baby clothing, nappies etc is very expensive and given the rate at which they grow, they are only in it for a short time. Sefton Baby Baskets provide amazing work to help babies and new mums in a discrete manner if they are experiencing financial hardship, ensuring that they have a bit of a help from the outset.”
Gill Ruane, Chairperson of Sefton Baby Baskets, said: “We are delighted to be chosen by the Liverpool office and look forward to supporting the team on their leg. The money raised will help us to continue to provide support to mums and families across Liverpool and beyond.”
