TVAA Hungerford

This week saw a team from our Hungerford office embark on an epic walking and cycling challenge to boost the funds of Thames Valley Air Ambulance which helped the young son of a colleague’s friend. They were passed the relay baton by colleagues from High Wycombe as they began their 161-mile challenge over five days to the firm’s Ashford office.

Big 25 legs have already seen colleagues travel by tandem bikes and unicycles, swim across open water, and even dance in a conga line as part of the mammoth 2,400-mile journey between the offices. This is the penultimate leg of the Big 25 challenge which will end on Thursday 30 October when the baton arrives back in London, where the challenge first began in May 2025.

The Hungerford team has chosen Thames Valley Air Ambulance as its beneficiary. The charity receives no Government funding and relies heavily on public funding to support their five critical health vehicles which have a doctor and a paramedic crew onboard. The medical professionals bring everything from the hospital that patients need and also provide post-accident care and bereavement services.

Guy Hemsley, Partner in our infrastructure team at our Hungerford office, said Thames Valley Air Ambulance has cared for about 35,000 people in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire since the charity was launched in 1999.

“When we sat down as a team to discuss charities, two of us proposed Thames Valley Air Ambulance as our chosen charity, Thames Valley Air Ambulance was involved in airlifting a friend's six-year-old son to hospital after being hit by a car which was the reason he survived.

“When we leave our Hungerford office, one of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance support vehicles will be parked up on the High Street to support us as we set off.

“Our office staff and field team members work with rural landowners on infrastructure projects, and we know that if we ever needed their help when we are working outdoors in remote areas, they would respond as quickly as possible.

“Thames Valley Air Ambulance celebrated their 25th anniversary last year, and it is fantastic that Big 25 is supporting such a wide variety of charities and that we have already reached our £25,000 target, but we want to continue to raise as much money as possible.”

Ruth Dunkin, Head of Community and Events at Thames Valley Air Ambulance, said: “We are so grateful to Fisher German Hungerford office for choosing to support Thames Valley Air Ambulance. Funds raised and the awareness from their challenge will enable our team to help more people, giving the best chance when the worst happens. Being fully funded by the community we serve, our team quite simply couldn’t do what they do without support from supporters like you.”
