Our Exeter team, based at Exeter Business Park, have set off on their walking, running and cycling challenge to boost the funds of Devon Air Ambulance as part of our Big 25 Challenge which has already raised over £28,000 for 25 amazing charities across the UK. They were passed the relay baton by our colleagues from our Banbury office before beginning their five-day 165 mile-journey to our Worcester office.
They have chosen Devon Air Ambulance as its beneficiary which raises funds to keep Devon’s two air ambulances flying and its fleet of critical care cars responding to patients, wherever they are. Its four critical care cars allow its medical team to respond quickly by road, especially in urban areas, and they carry the same life-saving equipment as the air ambulances.
Associate Partner, Toby Perry, said Devon Air Ambulance had been chosen because either colleagues, or someone they know, may benefit from the charity. He said: “Devon Air Ambulance’s head office is situated near us, and a few of us went over to find out more about what they do. Their work is simply amazing considering the region’s vast geography, with its coastlines, villages, and rural areas, which can make reaching patients by road difficult.
“In some cases, getting the right emergency treatment requires air support, and when the best hospital isn’t the nearest, its helicopters ensure patients reach the most appropriate care much faster. We will have an extra member of the team on our challenge too – a miniature version of Devon Air Ambulance’s mascot Ambrose the teddy bear, who rides in their helicopters to keep children calm, will be with us every step of the way. Now that autumn has arrived it is going to be a challenging few days, but we’re all looking forward to it and we hope to raise as much money as possible.”
Tracy Hepper, Corporate Partnership Manager at Devon Air Ambulance, said: “Our business partners are vital to strengthening the links we have with the communities we serve. When a partnership like Fisher German joins forces with us, they are actively supporting our lifesaving work.
“All of our corporate supporters are at the heart of every mission – helping us to save lives across Devon and beyond every day of the year. This partnership isn't just an investment in a local charity; it's a powerful way to support us and make a real difference to those who need us most.”
