Senior Sales Negotiator, Susan Wallace, who works at our Chester office, is among staff involved in a walking, cycling and running Big 25 Challenge fundraising mission to our Market Harborough office which kicked off on Friday 8 August, in aid of Nightingale House Hospice, a charity marking its 30th anniversary, which provided care and support to her brother-in-law
She and her family have first-hand experience of the specialist palliative care services provided by the Wrexham-based hospice for those with life-limiting illnesses.
The team were passed the relay baton by colleagues from Cwmbran before they began their 136-mile journey over four days to reach the Market Harborough office. The chose Nightingale House Hospice as its beneficiary because of Susan’s connection to the hospice. For three decades, Nightingale House Hospice has been at the heart of Wrexham, delivering compassionate care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Susan said: “My brother-in-law was cared for in Nightingale House for several weeks before he sadly passed away in October 2022. Not only did they give him the highest level of care, but the family were always made to feel very welcome during visits and everyone involved did their best to make their time with him as easy and comfortable as possible.
“There is a warm, friendly and calming atmosphere which you feel immediately on entering the hospice. The staff there are truly remarkable in every way and deserve all the support we can give so that they can continue their excellent work for so many families.”
Michael Harris, a partner in our Residential & Rural Agency team, added: 'The Big 25 challenge is a testament to our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve. By participating in this initiative, we aim to make a meaningful impact and support the incredible work of organisations like Nightingale House Hospice whilst having some fun along the way.'"
With 18 per cent of its funding provided by government sources, the hospice relies on the generosity of the community, corporate partners, income from its retail outlets, and grants and trusts to reach its £5.6 million annual costs.
Sarah Povey, Corporate Partnership Lead at Nightingale House Hospice, said Fisher German’s support will be a huge help towards funding its rehabilitation, wellbeing sessions, creative therapy, respite, bereavement support, and end-of-life care.
She said: “We are absolutely delighted to be one of the charities chosen by Fisher German as part of their Big25 Challenge, especially as we're celebrating our 30th anniversary this year too!
“It's a lovely way to mark both milestones and we're really looking forward to being part of the journey.
“I'll be cheering on the Chester team office with every step of their fundraising – and hopefully joining in some of the fun.”
“The support means so much to everyone at Nightingale House and will help us continue providing essential care to local people and their families when they need it most.”
