Daniel Kinslow Career Spotlight

Eighteen months into his partnership at FG, Daniel Kinslow is shaping a culture of opportunity in the Ashford office, because for him, people are the superpower behind every successful outcome. With nearly 16 years of client-side experience, he’s focused on growing the team, providing great client service, and backing individual development, and helping colleagues explore every route to progress.

With a degree in English and History, Daniel originally considered a career in journalism or teaching. At university, he took a temp role in the consents team at UK Power Networks (UKPN) and had his first exposure to the world of infrastructure surveying. After university he travelled, and upon returning reached out to UKPN exploring more permanent opportunities given the growth of the sector and returned as a trainee surveyor, beginning a client-side journey that would span almost 16 years.

Over the years, he has worked across both the Southeast and London footprint in many different client workstreams delivering both asset management and major projects portfolios working on schemes such as the Battersea Power Station Regeneration and HS2. This allowed him to progress to Senior Surveyor. and that breadth of experience now underpins how he leads, commercially aware, grounded in delivery, and energised by what good teams can achieve when they’re supported well.

Daniel joined FG in October 2024, bringing with him deep sector insight and first-hand understanding of what clients need to succeed. Before making the move, he was the contract lead for us at UKPN, giving him a unique perspective on how to strengthen partnerships and create even more value.

What attracted him to joining Fisher German was the flexibility to grow and the freedom to explore. “There’s less red tape, and less chance of being pigeon-holed,” he says. For him, that means people can bring their full breadth of experience to the table and shape a career path that reflects what they’re genuinely good at, and what they want to become.

He’s equally passionate about the idea that careers don’t need to follow a set path. Bringing in people with diverse experiences, different degrees, industries and ways of thinking, adds fresh perspective and challenge in the right ways. For Daniel, that mix is a real advantage for the business: it broadens insight, sharpens problem-solving, and helps teams deliver better outcomes for clients.

Moving into the partner role also marked Daniel’s first opportunity to line manage colleagues and he has embraced it wholeheartedly. He’s focused on retention and on really getting to know the people in his team: what motivates them, where they want to grow, and what support they need including RICS accreditation. For Daniel, investing in people isn’t a ‘nice to have’, it’s how great work happens. His goal is simple: to help everyone access the opportunities that build confidence, capability and long-term success.

When Daniel started, the Ashford office was a team of 7. Today it’s 11, growth that includes natural, organic change as well as deliberate investment in new talent. New starters include graduates and project assistants, and Daniel is also looking to recruit Ashford’s first apprentice from Plumpton College, near Brighton, reinforcing FG’s commitment to opening up different pathways into the profession and the important focus on early careers

That focus on potential shows up in the variety of journeys within the office. Maddie Scott, who has a degree in veterinary science, and Catherine McKean, a master’s degree in fine art, both joined as project assistants and have since progressed to assistant surveyors.

Daniel currently works across UKPN and National Grid projects, while keeping a close eye on what’s next. He’s keen to expand into water and gas, grow the client base, and make the most of the many opportunities to cross-sell our wider services. Underpinning it all is an optimistic view of the future, one where the Ashford team continues to build capability, say “yes” to new challenges, and turn opportunity into long-term success.

He said: “People are the superpower. The next chapter is about giving them room to grow and making sure Ashford is ready for every opportunity that comes through the door.”
