One of surveyors in Ashby has achieved the highest marks in the Midland Counties Association within the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), following a rigorous set of agricultural exams that identify the best professionals in the industry. Harriet Cooper, who works in our rural property management team, has been awarded two of the sector’s most prestigious prizes after excelling in her exams.
Harriet received the Midlands Counties Agricultural Valuers Association (MCAVA) Gavel for achieving the highest mark in the Midland practical exam and the Willoughby Garton Cup for securing the highest mark in the written examination. The awards recognise the top-performing candidates who qualify for full membership of the CAAV, the professional body representing agricultural valuers across the country.
In her role, Harriet works closely with farmers and landowners across Leicestershire and the wider Midlands, advising on rural property management and supporting clients with land management, diversification projects and wider business matters. Her day-to-day work involves helping farming families make confident decisions about their estates while navigating changing legislation and economic pressures.
Harriet said: “I’m delighted to have achieved both of these awards, it was unexpected but a real honour. The exams are demanding and a true test of professionalism, tenacity and determination, so it is a privilege that my hard work has been recognised. There are so many talented people taking these exams, which makes this achievement feel even more rewarding. a real honour.
“I’m very proud to work with landowners across the Midlands, and I value the trust they place in me. I enjoy working closely with to support their strategic decision-making and to help them achieve their long-term goals. The CAAV plays an important role in strengthening my work as a surveyor, providing the professional standards and insights that underpin the advice I give.”
Harriet’s success continues a strong tradition within Fisher German and the Midlands Counties Agricultural Valuers Association. Six other colleagues were previous winners of the gavel, while four also won the Willoughby Garton Cup.
In addition, consultant partners Charles Meynell and Paul Clayson have served as National Presidents of the CAAV, while John Pitts was awarded Gold Membership of the MCAVA for 50 years of service.
Alongside Harriet’s success, the Midlands Counties Agricultural Valuers Association has appointed two Fisher German colleagues into senior positions. Seb Kingsley, Partner and Head of Land Referencing and Geospatial Solutions at Fisher German, has been voted Senior Vice President, while Helen Tibbitts, a Partner in the valuations team, has been appointed Junior Vice President.
Seb said: “I’m delighted to be the newly elected Senior Vice President of the Midland Counties Agricultural Valuers Association. Being part of MCAVA is something I value. The Association is full of brilliant professionals, sharp minds, and people who can come together and share professional experience for the greater good of fellow members, which is a real strength.”
