Consultation launched on changes to compulsory purchase process

March 2015

compulsory purchase consultation
As part of this week’s budget announcement, the Department for Communities and Local Government together with the Treasury has launched consultation on changes to the compulsory purchase process in England.  ‘Technical consultation on improvements to compulsory purchase processes’ aims to make the process ‘clearer, fairer and faster’ for both acquiring authorities and those whose interests are being acquired.

The consultation is open until 9 June 2015 and any changes are for ratification by the new Government after the election. At the same time, helpful consolidated and updated guidance on existing compulsory purchase procedures has been published.
