MIND 20240312 110826
Our Birmingham office, based in Colmore Row, has announced one of the city’s most prominent mental health organisations, Birmingham Mind, as one of its chosen charities for 2024.

Colleagues have already kicked off their fundraising efforts with the ‘Move More for March’ month-long initiative, with colleagues encouraged to take part in lunchtime walks, step challenges and getting active throughout the month.

In the office, colleagues can also enjoy activities such as jigsaw puzzles and games to encourage teams to take a break away from their desks to help promote positive mental health in the workplace.

The charity was chosen by one of our mental health first aiders as an extension of their work supporting colleagues, promoting the importance of positive mental health, and creating office environments where staff members can bring their whole selves to work. They will be selecting a range of initiatives to take part in during the year, while also continuously signposting staff members to the services offered by Birmingham Mind.

Cue cards will also be placed in break-out areas to give people the tools to ask the right questions, both in and outside of work, if they think someone may need mental health support.

Becky Cooper, our Accounts Receivable Manager, who is also a mental health first aider, said: “We are extremely proud to announce Birmingham Mind as one of our chosen charities in 2024. With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem each year, it is vitally important that employers challenge stigma and promote positive health and well-being in the workplace.

“At Fisher German, we have several initiatives in place including trained mental health first aiders across our office network, an annual walking challenge, and celebrating awareness days such as Time to Talk Day. We are a Time to Change employer, pledging to create an environment where employees can bring their full selves to work and mental health can be discussed openly and honestly.

“Birmingham Mind is a fantastic charity which offers valuable services to people right across the city, and we will be taking part in a variety of events and initiatives throughout the year to show our support. They work in partnership with a range of local organisations to deliver a range of mental health and wellbeing services and aim to challenge the stigma that surrounds mental distress.

Kerry Henry-Edge, of Birmingham Mind, said: “We are extremely pleased that Fisher German’s Birmingham office has selected Birmingham Mind as one of its chosen charities for the year. Our corporate supporters provide us with a tremendous amount of support, not only helping to raise vital funds that keep our services running but also increasing awareness of our services and helping to break the stigma that sadly still surrounds mental health.

“Although we are affiliated with the National Mind charity, any funds raised come directly to us to support those in and around Birmingham who need it most. We look forward to working with Fisher German during 2024.”
