Local information - history

Knutsford is an attractive, market town with narrow streets and many interesting, historic buildings. The town centre has day to day shopping facilities together with boutiques, antique shops, art galleries and many other individual shops.  There are an abundance of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops offering a great choice of dining opportunities.  Knutsford has a broad range of schools for all ages and numerous sporting clubs with a variety of recreational activities. 
 
There are many events in and around the town each year including the annual Knutsford Royal May Day Procession which dates back to 1864, where hundreds of people parade through the streets and the May Queen is crowned.

Places to visit 

Trafford Centre Shopping Centre with its huge range of shops and leisure complex is only 20 miles from Knutsford. For sporting fans, Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs are only 18 miles away as is the Lancashire Country Cricket Club, Old Trafford. Chester Racecourse is 29 miles away and Tatton Park with its magnificent hall, stunning 50 acre gardens and over 2000 acres of deer parkland hosts many events to include the popular RHS Flower Show. The Cheshire County Show is also held locally in Tabley, near Knutsford.

Travel

Knutsford is located within excellent access to the motorway network, M6 (junction 19) and the M56 (junction 7) and has a railway station serving Manchester to Chester. Manchester Airport is about 12 miles away.

Local schools and colleges

There are a range of schools in the area including the private Yorston Lodge (3-11yrs). There are also several state Primary Schools – Bexton, Manor Park, Egerton, St Vincents RC, Lower Peover C of E and Peover Superior. Secondary education is supplied by Knutsford High School.
