Background and industry experience

Tom is a Senior Associate in the rural consultancy team, focusing primarily on the management of diverse rural landed estates and other property portfolios for retained clients. In addition Tom provides consultancy advice on a range of ownership matters particularly around landlord and tenant law and diversification. He is also a RICS registered valuer.

Tom has previously worked in both consultancy roles for national firms and also as a resident position for a private family. This work has involved diverse estates from Surrey to Sutherland encompassing grouse moors, salmon fishing rivers and traditional mixed lowland estates as well as mixed residential and commercial portfolios in his clients ownership.

Having initially studied at the University of Edinburgh, Tom undertook a postgraduate course through the College of Estate Management. He lives with his wife, three sons and two dogs near Oundle. Outside of work, when children permit, he enjoys rugby (watching rather than playing these days) and most rural pursuits.

About me

What year did you start your job?
2019

Why did you join Fisher German?
To join a rurally focussed firm where I can do the best for the clients I act for.

What has been your favourite project and why?
Installing a district heating scheme for a listed country hall and surrounding cottages. It enabled us to bring the estate woodland back into productive use whilst saving the halls chattles through more stable heating and made a trading profit (as well as keeping the owner warmer). Nice to tie different elements of an estate together.

Top pastime?
Rugby

Best holiday destination?
Skiing anywhere away from the crowds

Who would you like to be stranded in a lift with?
Stephen Fry, I think he would be quite interesting to chat to.

What’s your favourite film of all time?
Probably The Thomas Crown Affair, although filling this in over Christmas I was drawn to Love Actually (and have a soft spot for most romcoms)
