Background and industry experience

Seb is a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer, specialising in the Utilities and Infrastructure Sector of the Fisher German business since 2003. With extensive experience in the electricity and gas industries, he advises a range of clients on both existing and new assets. Using his project management training, he manages projects across the UK using large teams across the business to consistently deliver and aim to exceed clients' expectations.

Seb is also a specialist in acquisition of land rights and compensation matters involved in major infrastructure projects across the UK, including tunnelling beneath London and overhead power infrastructure across the UK. He has been involved in international and offshore projects in the UK and Northern Ireland. He is experienced in the use of compulsory powers to secure necessary land rights to ensure delivery of projects and have seen projects through all stages of the compulsion route and has extensive experience in valuing a diverse range of properties affected by utility assets.

Seb has been involved with the firm's GIS delivery for many years and now involved in the specification and delivery of both GIS services and data manipulation & processing for GIS projects. This enhances the delivery to clients with data collection in the field through tablets and GPS survey equipment.

He is a RICS assessor and Chairman for the Assessment of Professional Competence, together with being the chief examiner for the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers for the Midland Counties Association in 2016 and 2017 having been an assessor for over six years. He was awarded Fellowship of the RICS in 2015 for my work on major infrastructure projects in the UK. He has held the office of National Chairman of the National Youth Panel of the Pipeline Industries Guild and sat on the board of the guild.

He is heavily involved in the mentoring of graduates within Fisher German and oversee the mock assessment process and chair assessment panels for candidates prior to final assessment with the RICS.

He became a Partner in October 2015.

Why did you join Fisher German?
I graduated from Harper Adams and joined the firm as a fresh faced graduate.

What has been your favourite project and why?
Multi-billion pound tunnelling project beneath London for high voltage cables. It was a fascinating project to be involved with. I got to go down the tunnel and stand at the front of the 3.5m tunnel boring machine and watch it at work.

Top pastime?
Time with the family. I get a lot of pleasure from spending time with my wife and two daughters.

Best holiday destination?
Mauritius on honeymoon

One item to take to a desert island?
A boat.
