Background and industry experienceKevin is responsible for our commercial team in the Doncaster Office, a role that is immensely exciting following the teams’ move from Retford in June 2017. As well as ensuring that our existing client base were being well served post move, Kevin is also responsible for overseeing the growth of the team. With ambitious plans to expand the team and service lines, with the aim to become a recognised force in the region’s commercial property sector.
Kevin enjoys issues requiring strategic thinking, particular around agency, asset management and landlord and tenant matters. He also acts as a valuation expert witness, as well as being involved with Fisher German's graduate training programme. Kevin has been in the industry for over 20 years, having started as a sandwich placement surveyor at Rotherham Borough Council before finishing his Urban Land Economics degree at Sheffield Hallam University and joining Shuldham Calverley in 1998. Kevin became a partner in 1995 before the firm merged with Fisher German in 2010.
Kevin moved to Nottinghamshire in 2000 where he still lives with his wife and three children. He is a keen sportsman and, although admittedly he now watches more than he takes part, still takes an interest in football and Rugby. He is also a keen fell walker.
What year did you start your job?
1996 was my first taste of property working in the Estates Department of RMBC, a solid grounding for any aspiring surveyor! However 18 May 1998 was my first day at Shuldham Calverley.
Why did you join Fisher German?
I was a Partner in Shuldham Calverley who merged with FG in 2010, the opportunity to help a firm like FG grow in my Sector was irresistible
What has been your favourite project and why?
A little cliché I know, but it’s usually one of the jobs I am currently working on. I take great pride in helping clients achieve their aims and goals. Seeing those businesses grow, employ new staff or helping to create a better environment does give you a buzz, even though you are only a small part of that, it’s still special.
Most admired, non-property brand?
Nationwide Building Society is one that is up there at the moment. I think they have tapped into something quite special in the general populous. They have built up an amazingly loyal client base, out of doing what they do very well.
Probably keeping fit, jogging, gym with the occasional track day and fell walk chucked in.
Best holiday destination?
Has to be the lakes. A weekend there is like a complete break for me and the family love it too.
One item to take to a desert island?
Scarlet Johannsson, I have heard she is well trained in survival too!
Who would you like to be stranded in a lift with?
Elon Musk, a couple of hours with him would be interesting!
What’s your favourite film of all time?
I’m a bit of a nerd at heart, so any Marvel film, although Shawshank Redemption and Dead Man’s Shoes are up there.
