Background and industry experienceHelen’s role is Agency Assistant/Lettings Manager for the Knutsford office, being effectively solely responsible for all agency related enquires from estate agency and residential lettings. This involves setting up and marketing properties, conducting viewings and assisting with market appraisals, setting up tenancies and agreeing sales. She is the face of all things agency for the Knutsford office, both for all the estates they manage and extraneous clients. Helen has been in the industry for 17 years, primarily in lettings throughout Cheshire and North Wales. Helen started her agency career in Wilmslow with Countrywide Property Group before moving on to Strutt & Parker in Chester, heading up their Letting department before moving into country sales. Helen passed her ARLA letting exams in 2002 and NAEA diploma in Residential Sales in 2011. Originally from Wrexham, Helen now lives in Nantwich with her husband, young daughter and Cockerpoo, Heston! Outside of work, Helen enjoys hiking in the Welsh hills and across the Cheshire Plains. She also spends a lot of time in the Snowdonia National Park and on the Llyn Peninsular; her second home!
What year did you start your job?
I’ve been with Fisher German since 2012 and I’ve been in property since 2001
Why did you join Fisher German?
I joined Fisher German because having worked for larger, similar firms in the past, I saw Fisher German as a growing company, leaving other 'stuck in their ways' firms behind in terms of progression, especially joining a smaller office such as Knutsford. Five years on and the staff in the Knutsford office has doubled in size and the physical office is about to expand too and I’m very proud to have contributed to the success of the office.
What has been your favourite project and why?
It's so difficult to pin point just one project when there have been so many I have been involved in. Working in residential lettings, my “projects” are continuous and repetitive, in as much as when a tenant moves out, I get to rent the property all over again! I suppose my favourite properties are the chocolate box cottages on any one of the estates we manage. It's difficult to not picture yourself sitting in the pretty garden with a glass of wine on a summers evening!
Most admired, non-property brand?
Audi. I don’t drive one, although I have in the past, but you cannot deny their unfailing, worldwide popularity.
… that doesn’t involve drinking wine? Walking/hiking. It doesn’t happen as much as it used to before my darling daughter came along but there’s nothing better than that feeling you get after a 10 mile hike in beautiful scenery, having seen barely a sole and finishing up in a county pub for a well-earned meal.
Best holiday destination?
Cornwall. You can take your summer holidays abroad, I’m not interested. Give me a (dog friendly) expanse of beach and a twee Cornish cottage any time of the year.
One item to take to a desert island?
If it can’t be another person then I’d take my dog Heston. He’s so much fun and never gets boring. We’d have a ball!
Who would you like to be stranded in a lift with?
Chris Pratt. I’m not sure my husband knows he’s my secret crush!
What’s your favourite film of all time?
This is a difficult question for me because I watch far too many films. Labyrinth or Mary Poppins from my youth. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels probably comes out on top these days, I laugh every time.
