Background and industry experience

Giles is a man of Kent with a background in farming, and he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1992 in the rural sector. Having worked in the water sector for eight years, he joined the family business in 2000 which led to him setting up his own company in 2008. With his experience in the sector, dealing with the day to day management of CAPEX and OPEX linear and above ground projects for a variety of clients, he joined Fisher German in 2013. Over a 25 year period he has gained extensive knowledge of the electricity, water, sewerage and gas sectors.

In the role as Sector Head for Utilities & Infrastructure, he has focused on the expansion of the range and scope of services offered and development of efficiencies, best practise and innovation delivered throughout the United Kingdom. He has been providing advice in all areas of land rights, providing a range of complimentary services used to take projects effectively from conception through to completion. His expertise lies in the promotion of all types of compulsory purchase orders and statutory rights for both strategic and regional projects and co-ordinating delivery of project objectives by the multi-disciplinary team in an efficient and cost effective manner to the required programme.

Why did you join Fisher German?
Fisher German is a respected operator within the sector and provided a stepping stone to expand the client base and scope of work carried out for clients with the ability to shape the expansion of the business with the support of colleagues

What has been your favourite project and why?
The Richborough Connection where Fisher German dealt with the land issues associated with obtaining a Development Consent Order for a new 20km 400kV overhead line in Kent from initial consultation on the project through to energizing the line. It was a challenging project that required total focus from all elements of the project on delivery against a tight programme which, when consented in August 2017, was a significant team achievement.
