Background and industry experience

James specialises in Commercial Property Management and has over 30 years’ experience.

Having graduated BSc. (Est. Man.) from Birmingham Polytechnic, James trained and qualified with Chesterton International in Birmingham before joining niche agency Paul White Associates. While at Chesterton, James was awarded the prestigious FIABCI travel scholarship which enabled him to attend summer school at the University of Wisconsin and travel extensively in the USA.

In 1994 James co-founded Collingwood Rigby, a niche investment management firm, and in 2003 was the driving force behind the establishment of subsidiary Vine Property Management LLP.

In 2019 James joined Fisher German as a Partner following the merger with Vine and retired from Collingwood Rigby almost 25 years to the day since it was founded.

James has considerable Property Management experience in all the main sectors and alternative markets. James’ team currently manage assets worth over £3.5bn, extending to over 55 million square feet of retail, industrial and office property with approximately 7,500 individual units and over 500 separate service charge schemes. The team collects over £240m of rent each year.

James currently acts for clients including Mileway, M7, M&G Real Estate, IOAM, Wesleyan and Westbrook Partners.

James is a Trustee of the Sick Children’s Trust and lives near Birmingham with his family.
