Background and industry experienceMelissa is a Chartered Member of the RTPI with over four years' private planning consultancy experience. She completed her degree in Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield in 2015. Melissa has worked on a range of projects for both landowners and developers ranging from residential to commercial developments. She has experience in project managing multi-disciplinary planning project teams to secure planning permissions and the successful promotion of sites through emerging Local Plans.
In addition, Melissa has experience in assessing planning and development opportunities, planning appeals, and has reviewed outline planning permissions for clients to input into bids for land; this has included the identification of any potential planning risks and timing triggers to ensure compliance with outline planning conditions.
Melissa is a Member of the East Midlands Young Planners’ Committee, where she helps organise young planners’ events in the region, including the Young Planners’ Conference which took place in November 2018. She is also a member of the Women in Planning South Midlands Committee, a network which champions for gender equality in the planning industry.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and bike rides. She also enjoys a visit to Waterstones to add to her ever-growing book collection.
