A mixed squad from six of Fisher German’s offices was victorious in the Global Payments Corporate Touch Rugby tournament at Leicester Tigers once again.

Despite awful weather conditions, Fisher German took home the cup for the second time in three years, beating Exclusive Networks 3-1 in a sodden final at Welford Road with winning tries from Jonty Rawcliffe and Matthew Handford. This is the third consecutive year Fisher German has participated in the Leicester Tigers event, which pits local companies against each other in a single day tournament.
More than 200 men and women in 14 squads took part this year, with Fisher German also knocking out teams from Precision People, De Montford University, Big Bear Confectionery, Häfele, Global Payments and BGL Group.

The Fisher German team, captained by Ashby based Associate Director Iain Long, conceded just five tries in eight matches - and scored an astonishing 27 - to take home the top prize. The team was made up of players from Fisher German’s Ashby, Stafford, Knutsford, Worcester, Hereford and Newark offices: Iain Long, Ellie Savage, Lucy Gilbert, Alex Watts, Jonty Rawcliffe, Matthew Handford, James Borley, Joe Senior, Dan Smith and Henry Walker. Nick Robinson was also promoted to chief supporter after an unfortunate injury during warm-up.

Iain Long, Associate Director at Fisher German, said: “It was an excellent team effort to go all the way and pick up a second cup title in three years. To do so with a mixed squad from six of our offices, who had never all played together, made the victory that bit sweeter. It was a fantastic day for the whole squad despite the awful weather conditions, and great to see all the players coming together and getting stuck in. We’re incredibly pleased to have won once again. Hopefully we can retain our title next year.”
