Bedford office brings benefits fisher german banner

Hundreds of acres of Bedfordshire development land agreements and millions of pounds of development land sales have led to growth in an impressive second year in the county town for a multi-disciplinary property practice.

Fisher German is celebrating its second anniversary in Bedford by welcoming three new starters after notching up more than £27 million of development site sales with consent for more than 300 properties – and promotion and option agreements on a further 800 acres.

Office partner Sam Skinner says: “We may have been new to Bedford, but we’ve been welcomed across our service offering.  We’ve agreed four development sites and had a raft of great instructions, leading to our need to grow our team.”

Fisher German has hired two new graduate surveyors and a graduate planner on the back of the growth in workload.

Hertfordshire farmer’s daughter Molly Dickson has joined the rural team after graduating with a first class BSc (Hons) from Harper Adams University in Rural Estate and Land Management.  As part of her studies, she did a one-year work placement with Halls in Shrewsbury and a six-week internship with Fisher German in Bedford.  She also spent three months prior to university volunteering in South Africa.

Isabelle Carr has joined the commercial department after graduating with a BSc in Real Estate from the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester.  She is working towards her APC but finds time for cycling and watching Northampton Saints.

By contrast, new graduate planner Rory O’Reilly is in to Arsenal FC and golf.  He has a fully RTPI-accredited MSc in Planning from Plymouth University following a first degree BA Hons in Geography there – and has acquired planning experience in both the private and public sector in his native Hertfordshire.

Sam Skinner said: “Our great strength is that we can offer rural, residential, development, planning and commercial all under the same roof.”

The Bedford operation grew out of a merger with Warmingtons chartered surveyors in 2015.  It primarily focuses on agricultural, planning, development and diversification as well as rural sales and lettings, management and property sales.  A growing team also offers professional advice on commercial property.
