Fisher German has welcomed the announcement of the lifting of some restrictions on the property market. Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has announced that estate agents are now permitted to re-open offices, and property viewings and market appraisals can be carried out.

In a speech confirming the lifting of the temporary freeze on house moving, he added that viewings must be carried out in accordance with the latest Government advice around social distancing.

We are now liaising with clients who are selling properties and have put together a procedures guide to ensure that viewings take place safely, within Government guidelines. This covers residential and commercial property despite the ‘home moving’ bias of the Government guidance.

Head of Agency, Stuart Flint, said: “The news that estate agency services can resume is extremely positive for the industry. Although the market will have inevitably slowed down, we would expect it to remain relatively stable. Interestingly, less than 4% of the transactions that were agreed by us pre-Covid-19 have fallen through which points towards a willingness to press on and conclude deals.”

“Each property we have on the market will be reviewed on a case by case basis, and we will be liaising with clients to ensure they are happy for viewings to resume. Ensuring viewings are carried out safely will be our main priority, and we have produced a procedures guide outlining the steps we will be taking. We will also continue to encourage people to take part in virtual property viewings where possible before visiting in person.”

Across Fisher German offices we offer a wide range of residential services from traditional estate agency which includes sales, lettings and property management, to professional valuations for lending, taxation, management or dispute resolution for both private and corporate clients.

We also offer a comprehensive planning and development service which provides advice and guidance on everything from a simple extension on a residential dwelling to large urban extensions.

In addition, our building consultancy team can provide advice for house purchasers and for refurbishment and development on all property types.
