The countdown is on for four of our surveyors as the RICS Young Surveyor of the Year Awards 2019 is fast approaching. The annual awards ceremony, which recognises and celebrates the most inspirational young surveying professionals and mentors in the UK, is a prestigious event in the RICS calendar. There are 10 categories in contention, plus the overall prize winner of Young Surveyor of the Year.

Fisher German has an excellent track record of successful nominations, with 12 young surveyors from the firm being shortlisted since 2015 and three going on to win in their categories. This includes last year’s victor, Associate Director Rachel Kirk, who took home the award for the Land (Rural and Urban) category.

This year, four surveyors from across the firm – Guy Hemus, Ruth Ofield, Jack Healy and Seb Kingsley – are shortlisted in their respective categories. Guy, a Partner in our Stafford office, has been shortlisted in the Valuation category and was nominated thanks to his valuation of an amazing 1,474 properties for a client in just 12 weeks! Ruth, a Partner in our Banbury office, has been shortlisted for the Asset and Facilities Management category for her excellent track record in delivering complex projects for her clients, which has seen her rapidly progress through the firm. Jack, an Associate Director from our Doncaster office, has been nominated in the Land (Rural and Urban) category thanks to his work in making 4km of dangerous gas mains safe again, and helping his clients run successful farm machinery auctions. And Seb, a Partner at our Ashby office, has been nominated in the Mentor of the Year category for his training of young surveyors for more than 10 years, with 95 per cent of his trainees passing their APC (professional qualification) first time.

The four will head to the awards ceremony on 28 November in the hope of continuing our success. Partner Matthew Trewartha, who leads RICS nominations for firm, said: “Our nominees this year have been shortlisted in their categories for a variety of different reasons, but they are all outstanding in their respective fields. “We’re delighted with what the four have achieved during their careers at Fisher German so far. They are a credit to the firm and their profession, and we wish them the best of luck in the awards. “After four years of strong showing in these awards, including three category winners over the past three years, it makes us really proud that we still have an enormous pool of young talent that keeps coming to the fore and being recognised as the best in the industry.”
