In celebration of International Women's Day 2025, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Rachel Bridge, our inspiring ESG Partner at Fisher German. This year's theme, "Accelerate," perfectly captures Rachel's dynamic career and her unwavering commitment to driving positive change in the property industry.
Rachel's journey with Fisher German began in 2007 when she joined as a placement student, drawn by the people and the company's 'can do' approach. Reflecting on her decision all those years go, Rachel said: "I wanted a vocational role that made a difference." Seventeen years later, she stands as a testament to the power of dedication and passion in shaping a successful career. As a mother of three and an avid lover of the outdoors, Rachel masterfully balances her family life with her professional responsibilities. She added: "Balancing a family and work is a challenge, but Fisher German enables me to do both and bring my whole self to work every day.”
One of Rachel's most notable achievements was serving as the Chair of the Pipeline Industries Guild in 2024. Leading a membership organisation with a reach of over 200,000 people, Rachel championed diversity, supported the skills gap, and made a significant impact on the industry. Rachel said: “Fisher German fully supported me to be Chair of the Guild which allowed me to lead that organisation whilst delivering at FG which was incredibly important to me, I am hopeful that my leadership and vision have left an indelible mark on the Guild and beyond.”
Rachel's role as an ESG Partner involves working closely with our teams to support clients in their transition to net zero. She collaborates with our agribusiness teams to deliver nature-based solutions, ensuring that ESG principles are integrated into every aspect of our work. She explained: "ESG is a vital thread that runs through everything we do from place-making to facilitating new infrastructure. For me, it's important that our people are a reflection of both our clients and the people we interact with.
Rachel believes that balancing family and work is a challenge that Fisher German helps her navigate successfully. She highlights the importance of the many new policies which have been introduced, which have been instrumental in supporting women in the workplace. Rachel said: "Flexibility and honest conversations are key to enabling women to progress in their careers while managing caring responsibilities.”
A strong advocate for mentorship and networking opportunities for women in the property industry, Rachel mentors two females within Fisher German and another through the Women in Utilities Network (WUN). She believes that while there are sufficient opportunities, there is always room for more, and she encourages continuous support and development for women in the industry.
Throughout her career, Rachel has faced and overcome numerous challenges by listening, reflecting, and taking action. She values the external perspectives gained from the Innovation for Growth Programme (IFGP), which she completed ten years ago. She said: "The IFGP programme was perfect timing and a great challenge to my norm. As an FG ‘lifer,’ it's great to receive external perspectives.
Rachel added: "Through my work with the Women’s Forum, we have successfully introduced several policies to support women in the workplace. Having personally undergone four rounds of IVF treatment, I understand the physical, emotional, and practical challenges involved. This experience inspired me to become the fertility lead at Fisher German, where I support colleagues undergoing similar treatments. Within the Women’s Forum, we have established a subgroup dedicated to IVF and Fertility Treatment, creating a safe space for asking questions, gaining knowledge, and sharing experiences."
As we celebrate International Women's Day, Rachel's story serves as an inspiration to all, highlighting the importance of accelerating progress and championing diversity in the property industry.
We are incredibly proud to have Rachel Bridge as a key member of our team at Fisher German, and we look forward to her continued contributions and leadership in the years to come.
