Pipeline Safety Regulations 1996 - consultation update
Following further consultation regarding amendments to the Pipeline Safety Regulations 1996, the HSE have decided that a further consultation process should be undertaken to allow further research to be progressed with a number of stakeholders.
Once this research has been reviewed, the HSE will then be in a stronger position to establish the best way forward, be it through regulatory or non regulatory channels.
Andrew Bridge, Partner in the Utilities and Infrastructure sector comments: ‘Due to the magnitude and implications of the initial potential proposals, further research would seem prudent.
Hopefully this will ensure that the outcome provides a practical solution to the concerns relating to Major Accident Hazard Pipelines.’
