2013 is shaping up to be the most exciting year to date for the rural team in Retford which has doubled in size following the Fisher German merger with Shuldham Calverley. No mean feat for any firm in the current economic climate.

Profile grows

Since the merger in April 2010 and with the strong investment in professional staff which followed, the rural team has grown to meet the increasing number of local clients and their needs. The Fisher German name continues to grow on the high street with work being carried out for local farmers and landowners as well as commercial and residential clients, putting Fisher German firmly on the Retford map.

Management credentials

Tim Shuldham, office partner, was recently recommended by fellow partners to be part of the new four man management team for the whole of Fisher German. This brings with it a great responsibility to drive the company forward with the clear objective in doubling the size of the business whilst increasing geographical presence through the number of offices.

New qualifications and new starter

In April this year, two members of the rural team, Sam Skinner and Struan McDougall, both qualified and became Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, bringing the number of qualified surveyors in the Retford office to six.

Sam is well accustomed to farming and agriculture having been raised on his family’s farm in Northamptonshire. He graduated with an International Business degree from Nottingham Trent University before achieving a Masters in Rural Estate and Land Management from Harper Adams University College in 2010. Sam’s rural specialisms include working on behalf of landowners to raise claims and act against utility companies. He also deals with valuations, landlord and tenant matters, farm machinery auctions and farm agency work.

Struan McDougall joined Fisher German in September 2011 as a graduate surveyor in the Retford office after graduating from Harper Adams University College. Struan was brought up in rural Yorkshire close to Pocklington. He specialises in landlord and tenant work, valuations, property agency and compensation work.

The rural team also welcomes Haydn Short who recently graduated from Harper Adams University College. Haydn will be concentrating on estate management, valuations and general practice work and will also manage a portfolio of commercial property on behalf of a client in Grantham.

The rural team now stands at 5 strong and includes Tim Shuldham and Ian Calverley, who between them have clocked up nearly 70 years’ rural experience in the Newark, Worksop, Retford, Chesterfield, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas.
