Proposed Changes to HS2 Phase One

August 2015

rural consultancy news

The Government has submitted a number of changes to Parliament which are proposed to alter the High Speed Rail (London – West Midlands) Bill (HS2 Hybrid Bill). This concerns Phase One of HS2.

Those affected by this new provision (Additional Provision 2 or AP2), will be able to petition the Select Committee up until 14 August 2015. So the window of opportunity to put forward a petition is very narrow. AP2 is geographically all encompassing, with changes proposed to the Phase One scheme from the London Borough of Kensington up to and including Colwich in Staffordshire.

This new provision has also resulted in further consultation on the Supplementary Environmental Statement and Additional Provision Environmental Statement. There are two documents being consulted upon (but these have been combined within volumes); namely the Supplementary Environmental Statement (ES) and the Additional Provision 2 Environmental Statement (AP2 ES). This new consultation period, which is relatively short will end of 28 August 2015. Please click the link here to see the ES and AP2 ES documents on the Gov.uk website.

Likewise, please click here to follow the link to the Explanatory Information for High Speed Rail (London-West Midlands) Additional Provision 2 July 2015. This presents the changes in an easy to follow format. The proposed changes vary from the more involved to the relatively minor and include, but are not limited to, the provision of additional land for the scheme and the realignment of footpaths.

If you are affected by these changes and wish to petition the Select Committee or engage with the consultation process, then please contact our compensation specialists, as a matter of urgency.
