HS2 Phase 2a Moves a Step Closer

September 2016

hs2, compulsory purchase
HS2 Limited have this week published the HS2 Phase 2A (West Midlands to Crewe) Working Draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report.  This draft EIA provides environmental information based on the Phase 2A scheme thus far, and will inform part of the Phase 2a Hybrid Bill to be deposited into Parliament next year.

The draft EIA consists of three parts covering Introduction and Methodology, Area Reports and Route-wide Effects together with plans and profile maps.  The various components of the draft EIA are fairly large and we are working to assimilate this information for our clients.  HS2 Ltd are consulting on this and also a number of design refinements; and depending on your point of view ‘improvements’ to the Phase 2a route.  Again we are looking carefully at these on behalf of clients.

The consultation periods for the draft EIA and also the Design Refinement Consultation both run until 11.45 pm on 7 November 2016.  We understand that HS2 Limited will be holding various meetings along the route of Phase 2A, and although this will be a public forum you will be able to engage in one-to-one discussions with engineers and other HS2 Ltd representatives.  These consultation meetings will be held from the end of September, and we shall be in attendance at these meetings.
