HS2 contact property owners

May 2013

rural consultancy news

HS2 have this week written to property owners on the line of Phase 1 of HS2 (London to Birmingham and Lichfield) where their latest maps identify that properties are likely to be demolished by the construction of the railway.  This is in advance of the publication of the Environmental Impact Assessment maps which are due to be released for public consultation in late May / June.

The letters state that where properties are to be demolished, HS2 will look to purchase at a date on or after 2015 but that if property owners wish to move earlier then they may be able to do so subject to provisions yet to be announced.

HS2 have confirmed to Fisher German that the compensation measures consulted on in January of 2013 have been put on hold with a further compensation consultation to take place during 2013 and compensation schemes expected to be open for applicants towards the end of the year. Safeguarding of the route is still expected in ‘Spring’ and may allow some property owners to serve blight notices on HS2 for purchase of their property.

Further information on the above and expert advice on all HS2 matters can be offered from offices in Stafford, Knutsford, Chester, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Banbury, Thame, Newark and Retford.
