Renewable energy experts from Fisher German this week spent time on the factory floor of leading farm scale wind turbine manufacturer Endurance Wind Power.

The Canadian founded company opened their West Midlands production facility in 2013 and invited experts from Fisher German to visit for a guided tour, to expand their knowledge, and to witness first-hand the preparation of their first ever X35 machine – a 225kW turbine capable of generating revenue in the region of £125,000 per annum at a modest wind speed.  They have over 750 wind turbines installed worldwide with over 14 million operating hours on the clock.

Darren Edwards, a partner at Fisher German’s Market Harborough office who works extensively in the renewable energy sector commented “the renewable energy market is constantly evolving so it is imperative we keep abreast of changes – be those political, fiscal, or, in this instance, technological.  This is key for the benefit of ourselves and our clients.”

“There are a number of synergies between our businesses so it was most interesting to exchange views on the future of the wind energy industry both in the UK and further afield.”

“We have carried out due diligence and valuations for banks and financiers leading to funding well in excess of £100 million being granted to their customers developing renewable energy projects in the UK and this includes a large number of Endurance Wind Power turbines.  We were very impressed by the quality standards and meticulous workmanship being applied on the factory floor as they develop new products to adapt to the changing market.”

This week also saw a DECC announcement on the transferability of building-mounted solar PV installations from the summer of 2019 for installations over 50kW.  The so-called 'lift and shift' proposals allow businesses to move rooftop installations without losing the Feed-in Tariff rate that they locked into when they installed the system.

Harry Edwards, an associate at Fisher German specialising in solar PV believes “this is good news for the solar industry because it brings flexibility to businesses investment plans, allowing businesses to take their panels with them thereby removing a previous investment barrier”.
