Increased demand prompts planning team to expand

August 2012

planning team expands

A strong demand for planning services has prompted a midlands based firm of chartered surveyors to expand its planning team to eight professional planners, offering greater service provision and managing a significant increase in workload.

Fisher German, based in Ashby de la Zouch, has appointed Chartered Town Planner James Bellis (shown above right) and graduate planner Leo Cunningham-Bailey (shown above left) to meet a rapid growth in demand for their services.

James Bellis joins the firm from Balfour Beatty/North East Lincolnshire Regeneration Partnership where he was part of a team delivering the planning function for the North East Lincolnshire Council. This included leading on strategic housing land supply and project management.

Following his graduation from the University of Newcastle, James began his career at North Tyneside Council, becoming a Chartered Town Planner in February 2012. His new role at Fisher German will focus on renewable energy, developments and land promotion.

Graduate planner Leo Cunningham-Bailey joins Fisher German following his recent graduation from the University of Sheffield with a Masters in Planning. Leo will be assisting the team in a variety of areas including the Severn Trent Water contract whilst also providing support to Associate Planner Alan Hardwick in servicing Fisher German’s offices in Newark and Retford.

Kay Davies, head of planning at Fisher German, comments “We are delighted to welcome James and Leo to the team. The firm has grown significantly over the past few years, which has really pushed up demand for our services

“James will bring a range of expertise to the firm which he has developed over the past few years, whereas Leo will be joining a well established team where he will be able to develop his experience in a professional planning environment.”

When not at work, both James and Leo are keen sportsmen. James is an avid mountain biker and while at University captained his canoe polo team, whilst Leo also enjoys rowing, being a member of Leicester Rowing Club.
