Rise in planning fees - 22 November 2012

DCLG Chief Planner, Steve Quartermain, has this week announced that the proposed rise in planning application fees which was consulted on in July will come into force on 22 November 2012.

The department has also introduced a small number of new fees as a result of changes to primary legislation such as applications for urgent crown development and certificates of appropriate alternative development. 
 
The change in common types of planning application fees that will come into force on 22 November 2012 are summarised below:

  • Change of use - £385 (was £335)
  • Householder application - £172 (was £150)
  • Agricultural determination applications - £80 (was £70)
  • Outline permission for agricultural buildings on agricultural land - £385 per 0.1ha where the site area does not exceed 2.5ha (was £335) with an additional £115 (was £100) for each 0.1 hectares for sites which exceed 2.5 hectares, with a maximum charge of £125,000.
  • Construction of car parks/service roads/access – £195 (was £170)
  • The erection or alteration of plant and machinery - £385 for each 0.1ha where the site does not exceed 5ha (was £335)
  • Full planning permission for dwellings - £385 for each dwelling house up to 50 dwellings (was £335); and £19,049 (was £16,565) and an additional £115 (was £100) for each dwelling in excess of 50 dwellings, with a maximum total of £250,000 (no change)
  • Outline Permission for dwellings – £385 per 0.1ha where the site area does not exceed 2.5ha (was £335) with an additional £115 (was £100) for each 0.1 hectares for sites which exceed 2.5 hectares, with a maximum charge of £125,000.
  • Other operational development - £195 (was £170)
