Fisher German sometimes get the opportunity to work on a project which enhances an individual’s quality of life.

The Knutsford office have recently undertaken such a project involving extensions and alterations to the house of a disabled person who is almost completely paralysed and requires 24 hour nursing care.

The scheme has provided him with a new bedroom and ensuite containing a specialist bath which can be raised or lowered electrically and a whirlpool system. He also has a track/hoist transfer facilities from bed to bath, so that his carers do not have to undertake heavy lifting. There is a new conservatory and external patio area. All doors have been widened and all external doors have accessible thresholds. The existing garage has been converted into a Utility Room and the rooflights are electrically controlled.

The remainder of the existing house has been totally refurbished including the existing bathroom and kitchen.

His life expectancy is uncertain but it is hoped that these alterations will improve his quality of life and also that of his carers.

After discussions with his carers and relatives, Fisher German LLP undertook the existing and proposed drawings, obtained Planning Permission and Building Regulations Consent, prepared the contract documents, obtained tenders and inspected the project through to completion.  All in all a very satisfying project.
