Have you got the minerals? Act now!

quarryRecent changes in national planning policy provide an opportunity for landowners to unlock the hidden value of their land

New Policy

In 2004 the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act introduced, amongst other things, the requirement for regional Mineral Planning Authorities to produce a new ‘Minerals and Waste Development Framework’ (MWDF). The aim of the MWDF is to show how each Minerals Planning Authority will plan for the future provision of minerals and disposal of waste in their area.

Opportunity

Each Mineral Planning Authority is responsible for ensuring that they work towards attaining aggregate production guidelines set out at regional and national levels. The introduction of the MWDF has forced planning authorities to look again at how they will achieve these aggregate production requirements. This review gives landowners the rare opportunity to promote their land for future minerals sites.

Act now

Land not identified within the MWDF is significantly less likely to be able to obtain planning permission for future minerals working. In most cases the MWDF will not be reviewed for another 10-15 years: therefore it is essential that landowners act now to maximise their chances of realising the minerals value of their land.

Free Appraisal

Fisher German will undertake a free minerals appraisal of your land to establish whether there is any mineral potential. Following a positive identification we can then use our extensive contacts within the minerals industry to promote your land to operators and for inclusion within the MWDF.
