Crisis - What Crisis?

Red House Farm, a Worcestershire County Council holding set in the Evesham Vale, realised £910,000 at auction on Wednesday evening 4 June 2008 (£13,750 per acre).
The auctioneer Anthony Mayell of Fisher German’s Worcester office commented “With a good sized family house for improvement and views to the Cotswold Escarpment, some Grade 2 land in a flexible cropping region, good workable modern buildings, and an atmosphere all of its own, the farm generated wide ranging interest from farmers, residential and equestrian buyers”.
The successful bidders were a well established and respected local family of growers who set the bidding rolling and fought off strong competition.
Anthony Mayell concluded: “Red House Farm’s appeal came from its huge potential, rather than being a holding which had been improved and updated to within an inch of its life. The farm market shows a reassuring strength as a growing number of people recognise the wide ranging business opportunities that come with owning land”.
