Fisher German goes storming into barn sales

A wide range of barns to suit all pockets and interests are coming on the market through rural property consultants Fisher German, which between them are expected to sell for a sum approaching £4 million.

Fisher German has played an active role in persuading landowners to look at their assets and security prior to planning and,

as a result, many of the barns - in Staffordshire and border counties - already have planning consent.  While in other cases planning consent is in the process of being sought.

Already interest is building not only from individuals, but developers too who are keen to buy the redundant group of barns and turn them into homes or live/work premises.

James Pegrum of Fisher German’s Stafford office comments: “This is the largest number of barn instructions we have had for some time.  One reason is that farmers and landowners are looking more carefully at their rural assets. At Fisher German we are pushing them to apply for consent now.”

A recent success was the sale of three barns with consent for conversion to homes at Church Farm, Newchurch at a guide price of £450,000.  Being in a sought-after area of Staffordshire, the barns generated much interest, with the marketing brought to a conclusion with offers well in excess of the guide price.  Due on the market later in the year are two sites west of Cannock.

One includes a Listed farmhouse (to be split into two units) and five units with a guide price of over £900,000, while the other, with potential for five conversions is being priced at about £500,000.

Further barns are also due to come on stream for sale near Market Drayton with planning consent now secured to convert the barns in five live/work units and one purely residential unit.

Fisher German also sold several development sites and is looking to bring more to the market next year.  For further information please contact James Pegrum or Charles Meynell on 01785 220044.
